To all my followers:
Please watch this video. I’ll give you 3 good reasons why:
1. It’s informative and will help you truly grasp how dire the situation is in Libya right now. It will help put into perspective everything you think you’re struggling with, and everything the world is struggling with. So take the time out to hear it and understand it.
2. It’s only 4:45 minutes of your time. And it’ll be well worth it. That’s even shorter than it would take for you to turn on your TV and look for a news piece on this. It’s shorter than it would take for you to get on NY Times or CNN and try to dig through other news to get to anything of note regarding the conflict. It’s shorter than you take to shower. So please. Just put the 4:45 minutes aside for this.
3. It PERFECTLY illustrates how social media and new media should REALLY be used. Honestly. This is what I’m talking about. The power of social media is NOT about sharing stupid “hnngnggg”/”/dead”/”forever alone” posts. It’s not about changing your Twitter avatar to a different color to “support a cause”. It’s not about joining Facebook causes and competing with all your friends by recruiting as many people as you can. NO. It’s about ACTUALLY USING YOUR VOICE. It’s about BUILDING UPON intellectual discourse. It’s about sharing RELEVANT VIEWS, IN REAL TIME. It’s about using your little space on the Interwebs to do something that might (in the smallest ways) help strengthen resolves, broaden awareness, teach a lesson, uplift a community, etc.
